Teachers in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern are paid according to the collective agreement for public services (TVL). Foreign teachers’ gross monthly salaries start at level E9 of the collective agreement, i.e. 3,051.16 euros, depending on their degree, previous training as a teacher, and level of experience. Teachers in MV can also be granted permanent tenure as civil servants.

Requirements
What you need to become a teacher in MV:
Trained teachers are welcome to apply to suitable positions advertised in our online database. Non-native speakers must be able to prove a command of German as expected from a teacher. Prospective teachers must therefore provide a certified level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) to be employed as a teacher. For the following assignements, a certified C2 level is required:
- teaching German (not German as a foreign/ second language, i.e. DaF/ DaZ)
- teaching in the first two grades of primary school
- teaching in the A-level qualification phase of secondary school, i.e. the last two years of grammar/ high school (Gymnasium)
